This guide covers how to remove and install an RCR 80V tire without using a tire machine. This process requires significant physical effort, so work slowly and double-check your work throughout the installation.

Step 1: Disconnect the Battery
Turn the bike off and remove the battery cover.
Disconnect the battery before beginning any work.
Make sure the battery connector cannot accidentally reconnect while working.
Do not skip this step.
Step 2: Remove the Side Panels
Loosen the seat to access the upper side-panel bolts.
Remove the five panel bolts from each side.
Remove the side panels to access the controller and motor wiring.
Step 3: Disconnect the Motor Wiring
Disconnect the three phase wires from the controller using a 10 mm socket.
Note their positions before removal:
Yellow: Rear
Green: Middle
Blue: Front
Disconnect the hall sensor plug, then carefully route the motor wiring out of the frame.
Important: Note that the motor wire routes around the outside of the kickstand.
Step 4: Remove the Rear Wheel
Loosen the 21 mm and 24 mm axle nuts.
Remove the four stay bolts.
Note the position and orientation of the torque washers before removal.
Carefully lift and secure the bike.
Slide the wheel forward and remove the chain.
Remove the rear wheel.
Be careful while the bike is lifted, as it may be unstable.
Step 5: Remove the Old Tire
Place a towel over a 5-gallon bucket to support and protect the wheel.
Remove the Schrader valve core and completely deflate the tire.
Break the tire bead on both sides.
Use the clamps to push the tire into the wheel's drop center.
Install rim protectors.
Use tire spoons to gradually pry the first bead over the rim.
Flip the wheel and repeat for the second bead.
Work in small sections and keep the opposite side of the tire pushed into the drop center.
Step 6: Install the New Tire
Before installation:
Verify the tire's rotation/direction arrow.
If the tire has a red or yellow balance dot, align it with the valve stem.
Warming the tire in the sun can make it more flexible.
Then:
Apply soapy water to the tire bead.
Push the first bead over the rim.
Position the opposite side in the drop center.
Install the clamps and rim protectors.
Use the tire spoons to work the second bead over the rim a little at a time.
Check for folds or ripples that could prevent the bead from sealing.
Avoid putting excessive pressure on the aluminum wheel or brake rotor.
Step 7: Seat the Tire Bead
Apply soapy water around the bead.
Inflate the tire and allow the bead to seat.
Check the molded line around the tire.
The line should sit evenly around the entire rim. If it disappears below the rim in an area, the bead is not fully seated.
If the tire is difficult to seat, additional warmth may help soften the tire.
Step 8: Reinstall the Wheel
Reinstall the wheel with the torque washers in their original orientation.
Carefully guide the brake rotor between the brake pads.
Reinstall the chain.
Adjust the chain so it is not excessively loose or tight.
Reinstall the axle and stay hardware.
Torque the rear axle nuts to 90 Nm.
Step 9: Reconnect the Motor
Route the motor wiring back through the bike, remembering to route it around the outside of the kickstand.
Reconnect the phase wires:
Yellow: Rear
Green: Middle
Blue: Front
Torque the phase-wire connections to 10 Nm and reconnect the hall sensor plug.
Secure the wiring with replacement zip ties and verify that no wiring or brake lines can contact the tire.
Final Checks
Before riding, verify:
Rear axle nuts are torqued to 90 Nm
Phase-wire connections are torqued to 10 Nm
Torque washers are correctly positioned
Chain tension is correct
Tire bead is fully and evenly seated
Brake rotor is correctly positioned
No wires or brake lines contact the tire
Battery connector is fully seated
All side panels and hardware are secure
After installation, perform a careful test ride. If you experience significant wheel wobble, the wheel may need to be professionally balanced.
