Expected Release

The earliest planned release window is TBD - Updated September 2026

Please wait for the official release and installation instructions before attempting to update your bike. Customer Support will be following the official launch schedule and cannot provide the firmware early.

Early V2.0 Firmware on Some Dual Sport Shorty Models

A small batch of RCR 80V Dual Sport Shorty bikes shipped from the factory with an early version of the Thrill/Cruise firmware already installed.

This early version only includes throttle curve changes, and does not include the complete feature set planned for the final Thrill/Cruise firmware release.

If you have a dual sport shorty, you can only toggle between Thrill/Cruise modes by holding down the wrench button on the throttle assembly when in park.

Device Requirements

The initial release will use a sideloaded APK on Android.

Android

An Android phone or tablet will be required for the initial update process.

iPhone / iPad

The app is not currently available for iOS.

ONYX hopes to make the app available through both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, but the approval process may take additional time.

If you only have an iPhone or iPad and do not want to wait, a basic Android device can be used to perform the update.

Can I Downgrade After Updating?

Downgrading to the previous firmware has not been tested or verified by ONYX.

While it may technically be possible, attempting to revert to an older firmware could cause the update to fail or potentially make the bike inoperable.

Recommendation: Once the Thrill/Cruise firmware is properly installed, do not plan on reverting to a previous version.

Before Updating

Once the firmware is officially released:

  • Follow the provided installation instructions exactly
  • Do not interrupt the update once it has started
  • Do not attempt to install unofficial or older firmware packages
  • Android is required for the update, you can often find cheap devices online

Full installation instructions and required files will be provided with the official release.
